Although Eleanor Roosevelt symbolizes an independent and politically active woman of the

20th century, her views early in life reflected those of most women of her time and class. A

quote said by Eleanor was "I took it for granted that men were superior creatures and knew

more about politics than women did, and while I realized that if my husband was a suffragist

probably must be, too, I cannot claim to have been a feminist in those early days." For most of

her early life, Eleanor was dependent. Another quote from Eleanor was “A woman is like a tea

bag - you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water”. This quote strongly explains

Eleanor's feelings on woman being confident and strong, which inspires me to be strong.

Eleanor Roosevelt was a writer, activist, and wife of the 32nd United States President, Franklin

Delano Roosevelt. When she took the major role as being the first lady I was inspired.
